Day of Travel

Your journey is around the corner and we're very excited to welcome you onboard! To help you prepare for a smooth departure, we've put together an important checklist for you.

Passports and ID

The name on your booking must exactly match the name displayed on your passport, government-issued photo ID, or any required travel documents (such as visas).

If the name on your booking does not match your identification documentation, please follow the steps below prior to check-in:

  • If you booked through a Third Party or Travel Agent, contact your original point of purchase or travel agent directly.

If there is damage to your Australian passport, visit the Australian Passport Office’s website to check if it can still be used.

Boarding passes

  • Grab your boarding pass when you check in at the counter or kiosk.
  • Or skip the paper and get it on your phone with the Virgin Australia App.

Dress code

We keep it simple:

  • Footwear: Shoes or thongs for anyone who can walk.
  • Bottoms: Shorts, skirt, or pants that cover your lower body.
  • Top: A shirt or singlet.

Clothing with offensive language or symbols isn’t allowed. If you don’t meet these requirements, you may need to change before you fly.

Need extra bags? Buy it before you get to the airport via Manage My Booking or call our Guest Contact Centre.

When packing:

  • Check what’s allowed and what’s not
  • Don’t pack items that could be confiscated
  • Stick to Virgin Australia’s baggage limits

Extra charges apply if you go over your checked allowance.
