Travel documents

Virgin Australia ground crew will require you to show all relevant travel documents at check-in.

This will include:

  • a passport
  • and may include a visa and proof of onward travel.

The name on your booking must exactly match the name displayed on your passport, government-issued photo ID, or any required travel documents (such as visas).

If the name on your booking does not match your identification documentation, please follow the steps below prior to check-in:

  • If you booked directly through Virgin Australia, contact our Guest Services team for assistance.
  • If you booked through a Third Party or Travel Agent, contact your original point of purchase or travel agent directly.

Guests without a ‘M’ or ‘F’ gender marker specified on their passport may be refused transit or entry by immigration authorities in certain destinations. Please plan your travel with this in mind if this applies to you. You can contact the nearest embassy, high commission or consulate of your destination, or refer to the Australian Government's Smartraveller website, for additional information.

Guests are solely responsible for obtaining all travel documents and for complying with all laws, regulations, orders and travel requirements of countries to be flown from, into or over.

  • The airline may refuse to carry you if we reasonably believe you will be refused entry to the destination country.
  • General information on passports and visas may be found at the Department of Home Affairs website.
We recommend checking the latest travel info and advice before you fly. Find out what you need to know from the Australian Government below:
